Alice in Medical Care

A recent report from the Fraser Institute in Canada shows that patients there wait an average of ten weeks to get an MRI, just to find out what is wrong with them. A lot of bad things can happen in 10 weeks, ranging from suffering to death.
...and this, folks, is exactly what's going to happen in our country when the government takes over the reigns of medical care.

EPA May Have Suppressed Report Skeptical Of Global Warming

Less than two weeks before the agency formally submitted its pro-regulation recommendation to the White House, an EPA center director quashed a 98-page report that warned against making hasty "decisions based on a scientific hypothesis that does not appear to explain most of the available data."
Whatever happened to the good ol' days when it used to take forever and a day to push things through? This administration is nothing if not efficient. They pushed the stimulus package through in a matter of weeks, global warming...er...climate change, cap and trade and healthcare should be in the rear view mirror by Christmas...er... the holiday season.

The Economic Impact of the Waxman-Markey Cap-and-Trade Bill

It is clear that cap-and-trade is very expensive and amounts to nothing more than an energy tax in disguise. After all, when you sweep aside all the complexities of how cap and trade operates--and make no mistake, this is the most convoluted attempt at economic central planning this nation has ever attempted--the bottom line is that cap and trade works by raising the cost of energy high enough so that individuals and businesses are forced to use less of it. Inflicting economic pain is what this is all about. That is how the ever-tightening emissions targets will be met.
Excellent piece on the real cost(s) of cap and trade across the board, not what the media would have you believe.

House narrowly passes major energy-climate bill

Nothing like sweeping legislation that is based on junk science. Al Gore will now be making billions. Were Screwed. Bend over Everybody. Prices on >everything< will be going up while the odds of you keeping your job are going down!

The only silver lining is that it will help us push these idiots out in 2010 and 2012.

Obama's Health Future

President Obama's TV health-care forum on Wednesday evening was useful, because revealing. Namely, Mr. Obama shared more than he probably intended about the kind of rationing that his health plan will inevitably impose.

At one point in the town hall, broadcast from the East Room by ABC news, a woman named Jane Sturm told the story of her 105-year-old mother, who, at 100, was told by an arrhythmia specialist that she was too old for a pacemaker. She ended up getting a second opinion, and the operation, for which Ms. Sturm credits her survival.

"Look, the first thing for all of us to understand that is we actually have some -- some choices to make about how we want to deal with our own end-of-life care," Mr. Obama replied. After discussing ways "we as a culture and as a society [can start] to make better decisions within our own families and for ourselves," he continued that in general "at least we can let doctors know and your mom know that, you know what? Maybe this isn't going to help. Maybe you're better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller."
Thanks Mr. Obama... I hope your need to leave your socialist mark on America is worth all the lives shortened by your asinine policies. With Mr. Obama's plan there would be no second opinion, and the first would be made by a bureaucrat in Washington. And we'll be paying a lot of money for this "healthcare." Yes we can!

Republicans in the Wilderness

Perhaps people who are busy gushing over the Obama cult today might do well to stop and think about what it would mean for their grand-daughters to live under sharia law. The glib pieties in Barack Obama's televised sermonettes will not stop Iran from becoming a nuclear terrorist nation. Time is running out fast and we will be lucky if it doesn't happen in the first term of this president. If he gets elected to a second term -- which is quite possible, despite whatever economic disasters he leads us into--our fate as a nation may be sealed.
Hopefully, Republicans take the hint in this article and do something to start appealing to the American masses. There are movements already underway in the Middle East to invoke Islamic law in the U.S.

Super Obama

The Single-Payer Agenda

Although 70 percent of insured Americans rate their health-care arrangements good or excellent, radical reform of health care is supposedly necessary because there are 45.7 million uninsured. That number is, however, a "snapshot" of a nation in which more than 20 million working Americans change jobs every year. Many of them are briefly uninsured between jobs. If all the uninsured were assembled for a group photograph, and six months later the then-uninsured were assembled for another photograph, about half the people in the photos would be different. Almost 39 percent of the uninsured

are in five states — Florida, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California, all of which are entry points for immigrants. About 21 percent — 9.7 million — of the uninsured are not citizens. As many as 14 million are eligible for existing government programs — Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP, veterans' benefits, etc. — but have not enrolled. And 9.1 million have household incomes of at least $75,000 and could purchase insurance. Those last two cohorts are more than half of the 45.7 million.

It's all about the numbers folks, this administration would make excellent card counters in Vegas. They thin slice the numbers to push their agendas. They're doing it here, there doing it with global warming or whatever PC term they're calling it now, nothing is
off limits to make us dependent on them.

Hope and Change -- but Not for Iran

And where is our president? Afraid of "meddling." Afraid to take sides between the head-breaking, women-shackling exporters of terror -- and the people in the street yearning to breathe free. This from a president who fancies himself the restorer of America's moral standing in the world.
Like Dick Cheney said, there's a big difference between talking the talk when you're campaigning and walking the walk when you're elected.

The Honeymoon's Over...

Even Newsweek is turning on him...
As a senator, Barack Obama denounced the Bush administration for holding "secret energy meetings" with oil executives at the White House. But last week public-interest groups were dismayed when his own administration rejected a Freedom of Information Act request for Secret Service logs showing the identities of coal executives who had visited the White House to discuss Obama's "clean coal" policies. One reason: the disclosure of such records might impinge on privileged "presidential communications." The refusal, approved by White House counsel Greg Craig's office, is the latest in a series of cases in which Obama officials have opted against public disclosure. Since Obama pledged on his first day in office to usher in a "new era" of openness, "nothing has changed," says David -Sobel, a lawyer who litigates FOIA cases. "For a president who said he was going to bring unprecedented transparency to government, you would certainly expect more than the recycling of old Bush secrecy policies."

And then there's the NY Times...
While the new federal report (prepared by 13 agencies and the White House) paints a dire picture of climate change’s impacts, Dr. Pielke says that the authors of this new report, like those of previous reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the Stern Review, cherrypick weak evidence that fits their own policy preferences.

Dr. Pielke contrasts these reports’ conclusions about trends in natural disasters with the some quite different findings last year by the federal Climate Change Science Program. Dr. Pielke summarizes some of its less sensational conclusions:

1. Over the long-term, U.S. hurricane landfalls have been declining.
2. Nationwide there have been no long-term increases in drought.
3. Despite increases in some measures of precipitation . . . there have not been corresponding increases in peak streamflows (high flows above 90th percentile).
4. There have been no observed changes in the occurrence of tornadoes or thunderstorms
5. There have been no long-term increases in strong East Coast winter storms (ECWS), called Nor’easters.
6. There are no long-term trends in either heat waves or cold spells, though there are trends within shorter time periods in the overall record.

The nerve...

What a smug, arrogant liberal bitch. What is lost on her, is that in the military, one refers to superiors as ma'am or sir. He was showing her proper respect. When Boxer interrupted him with her request, he should have said, "Senator, could you please address me as Brigadier General, I have earned that as well. If we are going to be professional, then let us all be professional."

Does this kind of behavior kind of remind you of being corrected in 6th grade? How dare this woman... er... excuse me... "Senator"... scold this decorated hero who's spent his LIFE in his country's service.

Hey "Senator"... he worked alot harder than you did to get to where he is. Show him the respect HE deserves.

Typical liberal distain for the military.

ABC TURNS PROGRAMMING OVER TO OBAMA; NEWS TO BE ANCHORED FROM INSIDE WHITE HOUSE

Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party's views to those of the President's to ensure that all sides of the health care reform debate are presented. Our request was rejected. I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the America people. However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party's opposing thoughts and ideas from this national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers.
Did you really expect a fair fight? There's no time for bipartisan debate, Obama's approval ratings as far as how he does his job is tanking, he and the rest of the Dems need to push this thing through just like the stimulus before it gets much worse.

Obama and Judeo-Christian Values

Congressman Forbes is absolutely right. Regardless of faith, rights and freedoms have to come from something greater than man's intellect. Make no mistake. Obama wants you to look to him and his government not something greater than man for your rights and freedoms (or the coming lack thereof, as the case may be).

Let's see what happens....

Dick "our soldiers are Nazis" Durbin seems to have a conflict of interest that he capitalized on.
The Illinois senator's 2008 financial disclosure statement shows he sold mutual-fund shares worth $42,696 on Sept. 19, the day after then-Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke urged congressional leaders in a closed meeting to craft legislation to help financially troubled banks. The same day, he bought $43,562 worth of Berkshire Hathaway's Class B stock, the disclosure shows.
I wonder if there'll be an investigation. There would be... if he had an (R) after his name.

The Media Fall for Phony 'Jobs' Claims

If the "saved or created" formula looks brilliant, it's only because Mr. Obama and his team are not being called on their claims. And don't expect much to change. So long as the news continues to repeat the administration's line that the stimulus has already "saved or created" 150,000 jobs over a time period when the U.S. economy suffered an overall job loss 10 times that number, the White House would be insane to give up a formula that allows them to spin job losses into jobs saved.
Of course the press is going to eat this crap up, doom and gloom sells papers. Unfortunately, truth is an afterthought.

The Sun has nothing to do with Global Warming

It's still happening, and It's man made, you know. Except for the last 10 years while the earth has been cooling due to nature, but when it gets hotter in the next few years, it'll be man-made again. The sun, you say? What could the sun possibly have to do with Climate Change (that's what were calling it now)? I hope all you plant lovers who voted for Obama brought your flowers in last night, and remember their frost-burned leaves and petals when you start paying for CO2 (which keeps your plants alive) emissions taxes under cap-and-trade. Because it's coming.

Here's a good blog to follow if you're interested about what's really going on in the world of "Climate Change" by a guy named Murgatroid (that's right... Murgatroid) who seems to kinda know what he's talking about.
In August 2008, the sun failed to produce a single sun spot – a key factor in the warming of the earth. The last time this occurred was in June 1913. Some scientists now suggest that the pattern of sun spot behaviour since 1749 is showing clear signs of change in line with the same patterns seen in the three previous periods of significant earth cooling since records began. Known as the Dalton, Maunder and Spörer Minimums, each was associated with a period of rapid earth cooling, one of which was cold enough to be known as a mini ice age (1450 to 1820). The dominant prediction amongst those scientists that take the view that we are entering a cooling period is that the earth will cool for a period of two decades. Even the Old Farmers Almanac takes this view of the future.

Meanwhile, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions continue to grow. The fact that this is occurring at the same time that the earth is cooling suggest that we should be careful in assuming that the “cause” of global warming is CO2. It appears not to be the case. There have been many occasions in the history of the planet when CO2 in the atmosphere has been much more concentrated than it is today. During the Cambrian Period of the earth’s history they were eighteen times more CO2 and in the Late Ordovician Period CO2 concentrations were almost twelve times as much as today. CO2 is not a primary cause of warming or of cooling – it is just one of eighteen factors and possibly the least important. Much more important are: the effects of the sun; the orbit, tilt and movement of the earth; water vapour; methane; ocean currents; plate tectonics; vegetation; volcanoes and cosmic rays. When looked at in a comprehensive way, these key factors all point to a period of cooling.

Burke and Obama

People who don't like "the rich" or "big business" or the banks may be happy that President Obama is sticking it to them. But such arbitrary powers can be turned on anybody. As John Donne said: "Send not to know for whom the bell tolls. It tolls for thee."
For those that hate "the rich", "big business" and the banks...I have to ask, when are you going to start hating "the rich" and "big business" that is our current administration?
